If someone asked me, “Why can’t you just accept me (and my sin) the way I am?”, I would have to say, “Because I don’t accept me the way I am.”
God didn’t call me to be the best me I can be. He said, “Be like Christ.” Who I am isn’t worth being like.
Only He is worthy!
later I’ll post excerpts from an article that put that thought in my head

I can’t promise I’ll know the answers, but I’ll definitely try! Thanks.
Interesting background. Are you saying you shouldn’t love a sinner?
In answer to GlassUser: (I may post this answer on your site, too)
No. There’s a difference between love and acceptance of a person and acceptance of their sin. Notice I didn’t say I didn’t accept myself. I said I don’t accept the way I am. As in, I’m not content to remain that way. If I really love someone, I wouldn’t want them to remain in sin, would I?
Well said. I can’t find fault in that.
Good way to come back. It’s something that can get you deep in thought if you just give yourself time.
