beauty

“Oh, what a beautiful mornin’!  Oh, what a beautiful day!”

I missed the sunshine.
I love storms and cold rain, in moderation.
Day after day they kind of lose their charm.
The best part is, God worked on my mood earlier this week,
so I was already happy when I woke up this morning and saw the blue sky out my window.

I feel like a lot has happened to me in the last few weeks,
but most of it is internal, and a lot of it’s hard to explain.
But I’m learning to trust, to hope, and to keep my reactions from controlling me.
And I’m gradually getting my energy back.
Is it depressing not to have energy, or is it because I’m feeling blue that I want to sleep all day?

I wish I could spend all of today outside;
especially since they’re predicting lots of cloudiness for the next few months. (!!!)
I think my body thinks it’s spring.
Responsibilities call, but I made it out for a little while.
Warmups and stretches with my sisters on the driveway
(I like doing ones that feel like dancing…I miss ballet),
a walk down the street and back,
stretches on the trampoline,
a walk down to the other end of the block (the short route)
with my baby sister so she could get some sunshine, too,
and finally a chance to lay out on the trampoline and truly soak up the sun’s warmth.
It was a little bit of heaven.

  1. I don’t know if a marriage has room for TWO rabid football fans…
My new office has a window that gets lots of sun.  I like it.  Too bad I don’t like the galleria 😦  But at least I’m getting closer to my solar intake quota for the day.

  2. Hehe, sounds like you have your list laid out.  How I miss my days of sports.  You’re making me reconsider my current bent of getting back into it – it’s so easy to get hurt…

  3. Sounds like some fun there. You’re spending more time outside than me! That’s not right!(About my poem… You seemed confused as to why it was awesome. It’s not necessarily the words or what they mean, but their composition, and if that’s not vague enough, I don’t know what is…)

  4. You ARE nuts about your favorite sport!  I half expect your site to Let me just say that a girl liking football to the level you do is a great thing. If we can only get you to branch out into college football as well, then you may welll have achieved the height of human female-dom. A friend was telling me the other day how she used to have a boyfriend who would go to Barnes and Noble and get coffee and shop while she watched football on Sundays!! Now, I like reading and the arts waaay more than most guys I know, but I couldn’t help thinking…PANSY…**smile**
I think the reason for all of my enthusiasm over Tennessee basketball is that I have been waiting many years for them to be good. Growing up, my dad and I both thought I would play for them (to the point that he even considered taking a job in another city when I was in high school at least in part because I would’ve been playing for one of the better teams in the state…but alas, that is another story about things God directs in our lives). One time when in Knoxville for a football game, I actually snuck into the Stokely Athletic Center where the Vols used to play basketball and walked out on the court. I could visualize the old radio broadcasts of the games we used to listen to. I know it sounds weird, but it was like a religious experience. My dad had passed away in 1988, but I couldn’t help but think he would have smiled knowing about it were he still around.

  5. you know, it’s funny, but my best friend, who has been driving much longer than me, only has had 3 cars…I think it’s really because for some reason mine last for about a total of 2 or 3 years, and then time for a new one, NOT because I am old. : )
