I thought I would have time to post over the weekend, but…well.
Housecleaning for company on Saturday.  Rain on Sunday, and all I
wanted to do was watch football all day.  (At least we won.
Yeah, um…you don’t LOSE to the Texans.)

Last week was…well, strange.  Exciting.  Adventurous.

On Tuesday I received a strange package in the mail.  No return
address, computer-printed label (first name spelled correctly, last
name, tiny error, could have been a typo), and–get this–NO
POSTMARK.  Which means I can’t use a city as a clue.  So, did
it miss the postmark machine or did the sender live close enough to put
in in the mail box?  (But then, why did they waste four stamps
just to deliver it themselves?  A decoy?)
The strangest part was the contents–four snap lights, like the girls
used on their boat on the CO100.  Someone knew I wanted to play
with them.  But it would have had to have been someone who heard me
talk at the beginning of the race about trying them and then complain
that I didn’t get a chance to.  Right?  Or did someone
magically know that my greatest wish was to crack a snap light?
All I know is, I kept wishing all weekend for a major power outage from these storms.

Wednesday~
~survived subbing for two of Michelle’s classes.
~saw some beautiful flowers and a butterfly on the way home.  butterflies remind me that i’m in God’s hands.
~saw an interesting (read: weird) production of Much Ado About Nothing
at the Alley that a good friend is in.
~it was a
spur-of-the-moment, friend calling with free tickets,
glad-i-have-my-makeup-on-already kind of decision.
~i loved
it.
~it’s hard not to feel elegant going all dressed up to downtown’s theater district.
~the set of the play made me think of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, my actress friend’s mom thought Teletubbies.  ouch.
~went to a cast party after and talked myself hoarse (it helped that I was already halfway hoarse)
~met some interesting people and managed to be very charming instead of tongue-tied.

~had fun looking like i “belonged.”  *grin*  sometimes it’s nice to have friends in high places.

And then the weekend, with it’s getting-major-stuff-done, company,
cousins who go get me chocolate, rain, and football.  And a really
good night’s sleep last night.

On a random note, afternoon thunderstorms make for great sunsets.

More rain today.  I’m glad the sky is dark.

  1. Thunderstorms on the plains must be impressive things…we just get them at the sides of the mountains here, so it can be pretty amazing when the mountains are shrouded…of course, best viewing is on top of a mountain or a ridge as they approach…Am I funny looking? Are you ;o) ? The answer is depends on who you ask :0) The truth is I’m no matinee idol, but I’m not terrible either. That just seemed to flow with the other stuff. Although, right now my hair is pretty unruly so on good days I look like somebody from a lower lever alternative rock band from the early 90’s and on bad ones I could be the sidekick in the next Yahoo Serious movie…did I menmtion I need a haircut? I may need to post an actual picture sometime so people like you who don’t know me in person don’t think I look like the elephant man or something…I need to think more before I write that stuff…I think the last ones I have of myself were taken in Dallas, coincidentally. How can something be cute and gross at the same time? I don’t know but it is how I feel about Golem from the Lord of the Rings movies and Beyonce’…for different reasons…and yes, you should be laughing…

  2. Hahah!  What a cute comment, nunosfriend!  Yes, I couldn’t help laughing..
What a fun mystery!  And how wonderful it is to get “dolled up” and “do” the town, theatre style!
Our lives sound a lot alike, in some respects.  I saw some really bad weather having gone through SE Texas.  Was kind of scary watching it on the Weather Channel, not knowing exactly where all the devestation was, and knowing I have some people I love very much down there.  I’m thankful you and yours have remained safe…yes, I am.

  3. Snap lights are cool! Strange how you got them tho! How are you? I have not seen you in a long time! How are your sisters? Yeah I was young in that pic…lol Good old days.

  4. Glad I could hit something right πŸ™‚
Hmmm, it flooded while I was gone.  I was enjoying near-freezing temperatures in Georgia and North Carolina.  I came back, and the creek was ten feet higher.  Oh my, what have you done?

  5. there is nothing wrong with 70 degree weather at all, but the bees get really confused by it in pa, they don’t know what to do and think that people are flowers.
and I was and now am 38. 30 freaking 8. that’s how I like to refer to it, personally. makes me feel better. : ) I have missed you, thanks for the birthday greeting. and don’t listen to jon, he looks just like hugh jackman, or at least that’s what his profile said for the longest time. he makes me laugh, from opening a home for wayward girls to his interest in astrophysics, he is one well rounded guy too.
I haven’t read your posts for a while, i am going to go read this one. bye friend.

  6. yeah, it’s kinda funny, cause i still get asked at work if I am in chattanooga finishing my degree, and I’m like, uh, no, but thanks for thinking that. Sometimes it is hard though, because I haven’t done the normal stuff, or followed a normal path, and right now one of the reasons I am in PA is to get some of this stuff sorted out, just me and Jesus. So far, so good.
I think you asked me if I am a piano teacher, and the answer is a resounding NO. but you are? that is awesome. I have no problem with anyone else doing it, it’s just that I can’t. I know too much. πŸ™‚
and yes I was WICKED. I know my mom wanted to Kill KILL kill me but couldn’t cause she was teaching and had to act all nice and stuff. hee hee hee. how wrong of me, but how gloriously delightful it was at the time. rebellion is always like that, eh?
Read jon’s profile. it’s all there for the world to see.
and glad I can make you feel better. : ) how old are you? i thought you were obviously much younger than you are too…: )

  7. oh, and yeah, I play. another reason I am in pa. to figure that one out too.
guess you could say it’s a retreat, a mandatory retreat. good times. I love that jesus loves me that much that He will not let me go. comforts my soul, it does.
I am thankful for you. It was nice to get comments at 2 in the morning. now, it’s time for bed, night my friend….
