you know how
when you’re younger,
when something bad would
threaten
your world,
you’d expect the grown-ups
to do something about it?
After all, they were grown up;
they were in control; they had
power!
And if they couldn’t fix it, you wondered
why, and maybe figured they didn’t care enough.
And then one day,
you find out that sometimes
even adults
can’t do anything.
Sometimes even grown-ups are
powerless to stop an
event
or a change.
And sometimes
they’re upstairs in the bedroom
crying.
and you know, because now you’re a grown-up, too.
good thing God can do it all. isn’t it too good to be true, His strength and love? oh, our Lord is the best. smile for me.
hey, what happened? you don’t have to say if you don’t want, we don’t know each other all that well, after all…but I care just the sameI actually don’t know the feeling you are talking about, as a child, anyway…may have something to do with being raised in a Christian home or not,as I wasn’t, but I never really thought the adults could fix it when things went wrong…we kind of all just lived through it when stuff happened, I guess? I don’t know how to say it, exactly…there was just this sense of stoicism you were born into in my familyas my old boss used to say “Hangest thou in there”
I know exactly what you mean, Sara. I was totally one of those kids who had a huge revelation one day when I realized that my mommy wasn’t actually running to her room just to escape from us (although that was part of it) but mainly so she could cry without being seen. When she cried in front of us, that surprised and maybe scared me even more. I knew then she didn’t have all the answers and she could be just as afraid as we were.
And, yes, Christian romance novels are the worst. I think I read like one or two in my junior high years before I decided they were way too easy as targets for criticism and I already found plenty to criticize in my daily life, thank you very much, so I thought I better stop reading them. It is pretty funny some of the stuff those “authors” write, though.
Oh, ist THAT what’s wrong with grown-ups?I’ve been wondering… “Sheesh, people. Get a life.”But now I get it, adults are generally psyco.Aaahhh, I understand now.And I’ll be careful to avoid their kind in the future.heheheh
