Today we went to the beach in the pouring rain, when everyone else was
leaving, even the lifeguards.  It felt so crazy, and I could
hardly stop laughing.  Sophie and I played
“ship-wrecked.”  And the rain cleaned our faces and stung our
eyes.  And Sean tried to feed the seagulls a dead fish we found on
the jetty (with the barbeque tongs we found  next to it).  We
like having unusual adventures.

have ya’ll ever heard the last verse of our national anthem?  as best I can remember…

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand

Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation!

Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven-rescued land

Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.

Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,

And this be our motto:  “In God is our trust.”

And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

  1. that sounds like fun times…I like being in the rain, in fact, just like this, as others head away from it…and no, I had never heard that verseMy nephew K.T., guitar wunderkind (in my best German accent) and heartthrob just turned 21. He is quite the eccentric kid. He had a pet chamelleon (I spelled this wrong)named Capone and it was huge and it just died. His dad told me about it on the phone and said, “He’s torn up about it…its just like a cat or a dog to you and me” for some reason this made me and my other brother erupt in laughter instead of feeling sympathy (probably the delivery)..we are a family of goofballs, I fear and as the next generation comes of age, it isn’t getting any better!!

unusal adventures are the absolute bestest!  sounds like ya’ll had a grand time. i’ve never heard that last verse either… how amazing and powerful! it saddens me to see the loss of such rich christian heritage in our nation… oh, that our country would join and say, “in God we trust!” and turn to Him again! mmm.
