Our cousin Kathleen is leaving to be an Au Pair (that’s French, btw,
loosely translated into someone who lives with a family as a
nanny/housekeeper in a foreign country). She is going to Germany
to stay with a British/German family. (She will spend the summer
holiday in England.) I am extremely jealous.
Okay, I’m over it. Sort of. I do know that I don’t want to
run off all over the world yet. I like to think that Gracie needs
me as much as I need her. (Who else will rock her to sleep at
night, even though it might spoil her?)
So we are off to visit Kat and family since she leaves in a couple of weeks, and
she will be gone for a year. (She does like to jump into things
with both feet.)
Hopefully we’ll be back in time for Bible study Sunday night. I
miss everyone, and I hate missing more than a week at a time. So
long, peoples! Have a blessed weekend–may it be either relaxing
or productive, but not both.
I leave you with a quote from a play by Jeanette Cliff George:
“Man is naturally optimistic. Otherwise, he would eat his young.”
Great quote!! You should go and do that sort of thing too.
Now I’m lost. What were you talking about?
It’s the tail light. Obvious from a mile away.
How odd. It looked just like your car, color, light, and all. You didn’t turn from NASA1 to IH45S about nine yesterday evening? Hmmmm, you have stunt doubles about!
That’s a terrible quote..
hmmm. chris’s comment leaves me in horrific confusion as to the antecedent of “that sort of thing”. kat is going to have adventures. every time i think about her suddenly leaving to be an au pair in germany/england for a year, it makes me think of books like the shoe books, and louisa may alcott, and others, for some reason. sara mac, let’s go see the a.d. players. is there anything good playing soon? we can sit together and burst into loud peals of laughter when the theatre is quiet, and our siblings will shrink into their chairs in shame, even from across the theatre, and be glad that they’re not sitting with us.
That is a very interesting quite! I’m still turning it over in my mind though.
I don’t get it=)

Odd, it looked just like your car, and there were three women in it. I could only really see shadows, but it looked like you girls.
For the record, “that sort of thing” refers to traveling and being an au pair.
Thank you, Captain…
Man I wanta go to someplace in over there. I’ve never traveled farther north than Dallas Texas, sad huh.
This is an interesting string of comments…I was actually drawn to reading them because I saw the references to them on Abby’s and Chris’ sites. (or is it “Abby and Chris’ sites”? I could never figure that one out… I suppose I should before I start getting paid to correct it in other people’s writing… 🙂 ) I think you might have fun as an au pair, but I think you’d get tired of taking care of other people’s children really quickly…it always much more exhausting than your own siblings, somehow. The Captain is not the only one who “got” your quote. 🙂 But I must say that it is a bit disturbing to mention it directly after talking of how Kat will be caring for “man’s young.” 🙂
excellent quote.
you commented in Abby’s site two minutes before me, your comment wasn’t there when i started writing and it was when i finished 🙂 I like your profile pic very much!!!!
